Mares can be nominated by their owners to receive this award.
To be eligible to be honored, a mare may qualify in one of three ways:
- She must have produced a foal that was either a Champion or Reserve Champion in any MN Fall Fe st class. That foal must have gone on to win a national Top Ten or higher at Canadian or U.S. Nationals.
- Or, the mare must have been either a Champion or Reserve Champion herself in any MN Fall Fest class and then produced a foal that went on to win a National Top Ten or higher at Canadian or U.S. Nationals.
- Or, the mare must have been either a Champion or Reserve Champion herself in any MN Fall Fest class and then produced a foal that was Champion or Reserve Champion in any MN Fall Fest class.
This is the 7th year of the Broodmare Elite Program for Minnesota Breeders.
The Broodmare Elite program was created by Minnesota Breeders to recognize and award the accomplishments of Arabian broodmares. Since its inception in 2005, 24 mares have been honored with this award. The criteria for a mare to be considered for this award can be found on the MN Breeders website at medallionstallion.com.
Minnesota Breeders is proud to welcome three more mares to the ranks of Broodmare Elite. We are also celebrating a “first” this year as two of these mares have dams who were also recognized as Broodmares Elite.
TYMELESS TREASURE+//
It all started on the evening of April 6th, 1992. After spending several nights on foal watch, Brian and Sandy decided to order Chinese. Sandy’s fortune cookie read, “Your life will soon be graced with the presence of stardom.” Just past midnight, Tymeless Treasure, aka “Tess”, was born. She is sired by national champion stallion, Eternety and is out of the pure polish Negatraz daughter, Letraza. Letraza herself was inducted into the Broodmare Elite program in 2006.
Tess represented Eternety at her first show here at the Fall Fest in 1992 as a weanling. She started her show career in halter, winning the Region 10 Champion Sweepstakes Yearling Filly class and later that year a top ten in the Yearling Medallion Fillies.
Her performance career started in 2006 with Lori Conway, winning her very first national championship. She has garnered 12 national and reserve national championships, and 20 regional championships in the halter, hunter pleasure, western pleasure and ladies side saddle western divisions. She has also won multiple performance divisions at Fall Fest in hunter and western pleasure. As a broodmare, three of her performance foals, bred by the Feulings, are representing this year.
Adrenalyn – sired by Alada Baskin and presented by the Stannard family. He has multiple regional championships in hunter and western pleasure, a top ten in western pleasure junior horse, as well as multiple championships at Fall Fest.
Game Tyme – sired by Baske Afire and presented by the Loughlin family. He has multiple regional championships in hunter pleasure and has a reserve champion and multiple top five’s in hunter pleasure at Fall Fest.
Tymes To Treasure – sired by Baske Afire and presented by the Feulings. She has three Canadian National top tens in multiple hunter divisions and multiple top five’s in regional competitions in Region 9, 10 and 11. Following in her mother’s footsteps, both Tymeless Treasure and Tymes To Treasure have won the hunter pleasure mares class at Scottsdale.
It only seems fitting that Tymeless Treasure makes her final public appearance here at the Fall Fest where it all started. Thank you for this prestigious honor.
PROMISE V
Being presented by her owner, Larry Jerome and her breeder, Sheila Varian, our second mare is Promise V, a 26-year-old Huckleberry Bey daughter. Promise’s dam is the great Khemosabi daughter Pavane V. She is a great-granddaughter of the imported Varian foundation mare *Bachantka.
In 1990, Promise V was Scottsdale Champion Mare out of 38 mares and later that Fall, was crowned U.S. National Top Ten Futurity Filly out of 47! In 1993 she was exported to Brazil where she was awarded the title of Brazilian National Champion Mare. In 2000, Rose Taylor re-imported Promise V back to the U.S. to become a part of her RA-Aloha Arabians. Promise was purchased by Jerland Farm in 2007 and will live the rest of her days there.
Promise V has 5 Brazilian foals and 6 American foals. Of her U.S. born foals, the most notable have been:
RA Khapricious – sired by *Khadraj NA. A multi-regional champion in halter and western pleasure.
Broken Promises PGA – sired by *Khadraj NA. A multi-national champion halter mare.
Promisa J – sired by *Khadraj NA. A MN Fall Festival Champion Auction Filly and 2013 U.S. National Champion Western Pleasure Futurity contender.
Khaja J – sired by Khadraj NA. A national top ten yearling colt and Las Vegas World Cup Supreme Silver Champion Yearling Colt.
Promise is a grand old mare and her contribution to the breed is evident. She produced some great halter horses that were capable of being performance horses as well. Her daughters are becoming wonderful broodmares of their own right, and her son, Khaja J, is currently in line to replace his sire Khadraj NA as a breeding stallion. All of us at Jerland welcome your interest in this great young son of Promise V and are honored to be able to accept this award for this treasure of a mare.
DRAMA QYEEN
Our final mare to be honored is the First Cyte daughter Drama Qyeen. Her owner, Donna Hentges, Farm Manager Hilary Homan, and Carol Steppe, are accepting the honors for this mare.
In 2005, the first year of the MN Breeders Broodmare Elite, a little chestnut mare named Klassic was one of the first to be honored. Klassic was a foundation mare for Donna Hentges’ Greymoor Farm breeding program, and although she was small in stature, this mare proved to be a genetic powerhouse. In 2008, at the time of her death, she was one of the breed’s leading dams of Champions.
Carrying on Klassic’s legacy and beautifully representing her sire, multi-national champion First Cyte, MN Breeders is proud to honor Drama Qyeen as a Broodmare Elite. This is not Drama Qyeen’s first time in this arena. In September of 2004, she was the MN Breeders Champion Medallion Filly, and went on to become a multi-national halter champion.
Drama Qyeen was the first of the national champions by First Cyte to be bred by Donna Hentges. Faced with the challenge of selecting the best match for Drama Qyeen when the time came to breed her, Donna turned to Carol Steppe’s long-time breeding program and selected her stallion, Its Sshowtime. That match produced Drama Qyeen’s first filly and her first national champion offspring, Euphoryia.
Donna is proud to accept this award on behalf of her great mare Drama Qyeen.
2012 Broodmare Elite:
MISS AMERICA I
Patricia & Duane Dieckmann fell in love with the beauty, versatility and temperament of the Arabian horse in 1966. In 1975, they purchased the mare that would start to make their dreams of breeding, thus creating, those qualities in their own program. The mare was Ara Nebra Dawn. Her very last foal before she passed was a chestnut filly sired by the the National Champion Aladdinn son, Exceladdinn. It was this mare that the Dieckman’s would continue their goal. The mare was bred to Zortann multiple times with the foals Exceltann, Zoraladdinn, and Miss America I being the results. The two boys went on to win Numerous National Titles in Western Pleasure and Miss America I continued the breeding goals.
Miss America I only ever produced 2 foals, a colt by Magnum Psyche who was lost at a young age, and a filly by MPA Giovanni who was named Miss Giovanna. Miss America died way too early at 12 years old due to a large tumor wrapped along her spine and kidney. Miss Giovanna is all that is left of the legacy started by the Dieckmans and Ara Nebra Dawn. Miss Giovanna is doing them all proud. She was US National Reserve Champion Yearling Filly, Fall Festival Champion 2 Year old Filly, US & Canadian National Champion Futurity Filly, World Cup Champion Mare in her age group and then went on to be Silver Supreme Champion Senior Mare just this spring in Las Vegas. Miss Giovanna had 2 fillies this spring sired by Khadraj NA and Marwan Al Shaqab, and she is expecting a few more foals next year.
Pat & Duane would like to thank everyone who has helped them accomplish their goals along the way and are honored that Miss America I is being inducted in the Minnesota Arabian Horse Breeders Broodmare Elite.
CARISMRETA
Carismreta is a 1999 beautiful chestnut mare by the stallion, Psymadre, a Padrons Psyche son, out of Overlook Amaretta, by Bey Shah out of a* Naborr daughter . She was bred by Darrell and Sandy Coker of Scottsdale Arizona. Carismeta was discovered by Jerry Schall for the purpose to be used as a broodmare to cross with the multi-national champion stallion Odyssey SC. Years later she was purchased by Chuck and Chris Rickart after they acquired one of her sons Atlantis SC, to continue and expand their breeding program.
Carismreta has a big liquid eye, athleticism, and charisma which we are sure is the reason why she got her name. She is a mare who is a producer of both quality halter and performance champions. She has had 4 offspring:
• Venice Queen SC, a 2003 liver chestnut multi-regional Champion Halter and Scottsdale mare who was bred and shown by Keith Novickk of Sparkle Creek. Venice Queen was purchased by Austin Miller and shown to multi Regional Championships. She was sold to Haras Irlanda in South America in foal to Giovonni. She produced a beautiful filly named Princessa Giovanna that was the Argentina National Champion Yearling Filly.
• Atlantis SC, a 2005 bay gelding bred by Keith Novick of Sparkle Creek. In 2006, Atlantis began his yearling show by placing 5th at Scottsdale out of 31 colts, and was Reserve Champion at Regions 10 and 11. Atlantis was acquired for the Rickart family as Adam’s new halter horse in 2007. Atlantis was Regional Champion at Regions 10 and 6 two times. He was National Top Ten Two Year Old Jackpot Gelding. As a Three year old Atlantis was Regional Top 5 Gelding and earned five National Top Ten awards at Canadian and US Nationals. In 2009 Atlantis began his performance career as Hunter Pleasure horse and was 2010 Scottsdale Champion and Top Ten as a five year old. Atlantis returned to the Halter show ring in 2011 and was Region 10 Champion and Region 6 two time Champion. He finished 2011 at US Nationals with two Top Ten awards. Atlantis continued his performance career this year in Hunter Pleasure and was Region 6 Top 5 three times, and Canadian National Top Ten. You can see him hear this year at the Fall Fest in the Hunter Pleasure divisions.
• Oscar De La Hoya, a 2007 Chestnut gelding bred by Keith Novick of Sparkle Creek, with numerous performance titles. Oscar is owned proudly by Jeanna and Alan Clanton of Missouri. Oscar De La Hoya has three regional championships in western pleasure and five regional titles in hunt pleasure, one of them a regional championship.
• Marcello PA, a beautiful 2012 tall dark bay colt by Armondo El Aryes who you will see here next year competing in the Medallion Stallion classes.
The Rickart family of Pineview Arabians is honored to have this special mare inducted into the Minnesota Arabian Horse Breeders Broodmare Elite Program.
KHARNATION
When Kharben won the Triple Crown, David Boggs and Tom Chauncey were trying to find the perfect mares to cross with him and put him on the map as a sire. David chose the Padron daughter Pachouli for Kharben. The result of the mating was the bay filly Kharnation. Kharnation resided at Midwest until she was purchased as a 3 year old by Curt Hough. Curt purchased her in foal to Magnum Psyche and liked the cross so much, he repeated it 4 times before breeding her to TF Noble Prize. It was after this that Larry Jerome was looking for mares to help put his young MPA Giovanni on the map as a sire and he selected Kharnation and another Kharben daughter owned by Curt Hough to help with his goal. She produced 2 foals by Giovanni and 1 by FS Ritz for Jerland Farm. She was bred back to FS Ritz and was offered for sale. Laure and Justin Kruse were able to acquire this Aristocratic Mare at that time. The progeny of Kharnation are what make her so great. This big bodied, very structured mare lends that to all of her offspring and she lets the sire’s beauty come through on each of the foals. TF Magnums Magic was Champion here at the Fall Festival before she was exported. Trinitee is a halter champion who was exported to Bahrain. TF Home Run is a regional western pleasure winner. Khassandra J was Reserve Champion Auction Filly in her only outing. The foal at the side of Kharnation now is a full brother to Khassandra J and is next year’s auction entry for the Kruses. It is fitting with the success of the Kharnation foals, especially here at the Minnesota Fall Festival, that it is here that she be inducted into the Broodmare Elite.
2011 Broodmare Elite:
KHENYA
Khenya is part of the reason Jerland Farm is what it is today. Larry Jerome was visiting his father who had broken his hip in AZ and had time to kill, so he swung into Petroglypgh and saw them leading a beautiful bay mare with 24 hour old filly out to a paddock. The filly turned out to be the *Khadraj NA daughter Khenya PGA along side her dam Makena PGA, the Padrons Psyche daughter. Larry made the offer to purchase her that day for his daughter Indira and a new chapter of Jerland Farms began. As a yearling Khenya was Region 10 Champion Filly and Fall Fest Champion Auction FIlly. As a 2 year old her only venture out made her Fall Fest Champion 2 year old filly and as a 3 year old she was National Top Ten Futurity Filly.
Khenya’s get (all by Jerland’s MPA Giovanni) include:
- Verragio J- US National Top Ten Hunter Futurity, Now owned by the Hagen Family
- Inspiration J- World Cup Top 5 & Regional Top Five Halter Filly- now owned by Daria Stransky
- Khiss J- Regional Top 5 Halter Filly, being offered on the Jerland Production Sale
- Cosmpolitian J- owned by Al Khalediah Stables
- Ucello- World Cup Champion & Fall Fest Top 10 Halter Colt
She is in foal to Giovanni again for 2012
She is being presented by Indira Van Handel to her award.
TONKI-TU
Born in 1977 the black bay mare Tonki-Tu grew up to become one of the breeds Aristocrat mares. Sired by the Bask son Baske-Tu and out of the wonderful Bask daughter Tonki she had the conformation and pedigree to be a producer of athletes, and produce them she did.
Acquired by Lori Conway in 1984 she was carrying a foal by Padron. Padrask was a western star and earned his +/ in that division with innumerable western championships, but her most famous foals resulted from crossing her with Lori’s stallion Balajkar Bey V.
BB Bey, BB Lyric, BB Melody, The Ironman, BB Independence and Honky Tonk Cowboy were all Champions here at the Fall Festival and then went on to win National titles.
Perhaps most notable in her foals was their incomparable dispositions. They are all ambassadors for the breed in their own right, making great amateur mounts. BB Melody and Honky Tonk Cowboy in particular will always hold a special place in the history of Conway Arabians; having been wonderful early Youth mounts for Anna and Rachel.
BB Independence “Indie” and Honky Tonk Cowboy “Rebel” are still here in the area and well known for teaching kids and amateurs to ride and show. We are honored to have Tonk-Tu inducted into the Fall Festival’s Broodmare Elite.
MERRI JESSABELL
Merri Jessabell was bred by H.R. “Bill” and Martha Bell, Merri Hill Arabians. Bill and Martha were two of the Founding members of the MN Arabian Horse Breeders! They are honored to have Merri Jessabell recognized as a Broodmare Elite.
Presenting her tonight is Anna Kittock. Anna began working for the Bell’s when she was 14 & has gone on to work in the industry, becoming a vet tech and operating her own stables. She continues to help out Bill at the farm. With Bill tonight is daughter Becky and granddaughter Maya.
Merri Jessabell was born at Merri Hill and is named in honor of Jessica, a favorite niece of Bill & Martha who was present at her foaling. Merri Jessabell is sired by Shaklans Padron NA, the fabulous son of El Shaklan. She is currently in foal to Sharif El Shaklan for the 2013 Scottsdale Auction foal. Merri Jessabell is truly a Bell-bred mare. On the mare line, the Bell’s have bred the line back through four generations! Her Grandsire, Gdaan (Cognac), is one of the Bell-bred all stars in her pedigree. Gdaan was a 2x US and Canadian National Champion and multiple Top Ten winner in Park and Formal Driving.
As a producer Merri Jessabell is the dam of Merri Precious. Merri Precious was sired by Versace. She was the unanimous winner over 53 yearling fillies in the Fall Fest Medallion Class in 2004. Merri Precious is the dam of the stallion MH Ahsom, who was exported to South Africa and shown there to a Reserve National Championship. Several years ago, unfortunately, Merri Precious slipped on the ice, breaking her shoulder.
Merri Jessabell has been a outstanding broodmare. Her 2011 colt, Ambitious MH by Bey Ambition is available for purchase and can be seen on a DVD at Bell’s stables in the horse barn.
Merri Jessabell is the gentle leader of the herd at Merri Hill Arabians. A regular site at the farm is the beautiful white mare with her tail flagged moving through the pasture leading the others out to graze. She is classic Arab type, beautiful conformation and great producer. Merri Jessabell is a strong mare with a loving disposition.
The Bell’s would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the Minnesota Breeders for this wonderful honor. They are proud to have been involved with MAHB since the beginning. The members of this great group have contributed so much to the success that Fast Fest is today. It was a concept to honor Small Breeders, the backbone of the Arabian Industry whose goal is to create beauty and that elusive “perfect” horse.
Thank you for honoring our “perfect” horse, Merri Jessabell.
2010 Honorees:
Minnesota Breeders is proud to honor two special mares this year as winners of the 2010 Broodmare Elite Award.
The first mare is …
HJ PORCELAIN BEY
HJ Porcelain Bey is sired by the Legendary Bey Shah and out of the mare Marosh Santaella. She was bred by the great breeder Shelley
Brinkert-Hjelm. This mare is proudly owned by Indira Van Handel of Jerland Farms and is being presented by Mike Van Handel. In her show career, she accomplished such feats as being a Regional Champion Mare numerous times as well as a National Top Ten Futurity Filly and Reserve National Champion Mare. Perhaps her greatest accomplishment though, has been in her get. All of her get that have been shown have been Class ‘A’ Champions or better in their lives, with most of them going on to be national winners. At the age of 19, Porcelain delivered her 9th foal and will be rebred again in the spring.
She is the dam of:
• Makena PGA (by Padrons Psyche ) – a Regional Champion and National Top Ten
• Psierra PGA (by Padrons Psyche) – National Top Ten Futurity Filly
• Dreamworks PGA (by Magic Dream) – Multi-Regional Champion & Reserve National Champion
• Khevlar PGA (by *Khadraj NA) – Multi Regional Champion & Multi-Reserve National Champion
• Porcelain J (by MPA Giovanni) – National Top Ten
Granddam of:
• Khenya PGA – Regional Champion & National Top Ten
• Jamaica Jullyen PGA – Reserve National Champion Futurity Filly
• Porcelainna – exported to Great Britian
• Baske Alert – Regional Champion & National Top Ten
And our second honoree is …
MFA LOVE NTYME
MFA Love NTyme is owned by Larry Schopf and Twin X Arabians. She is being presented by Larry Schopf and Dan Lynch. She is a 10-year-old mare from the very successful breeding program of Sheila Morgan, Morgan Farm Arabians. Her dam, MFA Lilac Tyme (Fame VF+ x Benraz Faantasy), had multiple wins in halter and western pleasure including 1991 Canadian National Champion Futurity Filly and 1991 U.S. National Top Ten Futurity Filly. Full siblings of MFA Lilac Tyme, such as MFA Hutzpah+//, MFA Hullabaloo and MFA Ultra Violet, have also been repeated Champions and Top Ten in multiple disciplines.
MFA Love NTyme’s sire, El Picon, is an impressive son of Ali Jamaal out of Paonia, a Barbary+++ daughter. He was a Top Ten Stallion at the 1999 and 2000 Scottsdale shows and went on to perform in reining competition. He now stands at the Hearst Family farm in California. Siblings of MFA Love NTyme have also been very successful, such as MFA Annies Song (Ludjin El Jamaal x MFA Lilac Tyme), who continues to be a great producing broodmare.
MFA Love NTyme was purchased by Larry Schopf from Tom and Diane Van Groll and Mike Van Handel as a 7-year-old, in foal with a MAHB Medallion Auction Class breeding to the great MPA Giovanni. She was very impressive at first sight since she possesses the head and neck desired of the breed. Her foal, Giovialli XX, was special from the beginning. His name is a variation on the Italian word for ‘joyful’ and he has been all that from the start. He was Top Ten in the Signature Yearling Colt class at the 2009 Scottsdale show and Top Ten in the 2009 Iowa Gold Star Yearling Colt class. He was sold at the Iowa show and went on to be 2009 MAHB Medallion Auction Yearling Colt Champion and a 2009 U.S. National Top Ten Breeders Sweepstakes Yearling Colt.
MFA Love NTyme has had two other foals, Tymeless NG by Odyssey SC and Love NHonor XX by Semper Fie. Love NHonor XX shows great promise to continue her sire and dam’s winning tradition in the show ring or as a broodmare.
MFA Love NTyme is currently in foal with the Scottsdale Signature Auction breeding to Marwan Al Magnifficoo. She has proven to be a great addition to the Twin X Arabians breeding program and Larry Schopf would like to thank the Minnesota Arabian Horse Breeders Association for this honor.
2009 Honorees:
CANDELITA SF
Candelita SF is owned and presented by Punch and Ann Benson of Prairie View Farm. The Bensons are honored to have Candelita recognized by the Minnesota Arabian Horse Breeders Association.
Cande is by the great Bey Shah son, NV Elite and out of CR Candelabra who is out of the multi-talented, Ariston. She was bred by Mike and Jan Zierke of Sensation Farm and purchased by the Bensons at the age of 3 to serve as the foundation mare for their fledgling breeding program. She, herself, was 3rd in the Fall Fest Medallion class as a yearling.
Cande has had 7 foals for the Bensons—5 were from Fall Fest auction breedings. Here are some highlights from those offspring:
Cartier PVF sired by Barritz SF
- 2003 Region 6 Champion Yearling Sweepstakes Colt
- 2003 Fall Fest Champion Auction Colt
- 2004 Fall Fest Reserve Champion 2-Year-Old Colt
- 2008 Fall Fest Top Five Western Pleasure Maiden Horse
- 2009 Region 10 Champion Gelding ATH
Magnifique PVF sired by Magnum Psyche
- 2004 Fall Fest Reserve Champion Yearling Medallion Colt
- 2005 Scottsdale Reserve Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding
- 2005 Fall Fest Reserve Champion 2-Year-Old Colt
Alchemy PVF sired by Magnum Gold
- 2006 Fall Fest Top Five Auction Colt
Dixie Chick PVF sired by DS Major Afire
- 2007 Northstar Champion Yearling Filly
- 2007 Region 10 Unanimous Champion Yearling Sweepstakes Filly
- 2007 Fall Fest Champion Medallion Yearling Filly
Cande’s 2001 Barritz bred filly, Chocolat PVF sustained an injury and was retired to the breeding shed. She is now producing champions of her own including Tango PVF who was 2006 Scottsdale Top Five Auction Colt, 2006 Northstar Champion Yearling Colt and 2006 Fall Fest Top Ten Medallion Colt. This year Chocolat had a DS Major Afire colt who is a 2010 Fall Fest auction contender.
Punch and Ann would like to give a very special thanks to Jeff and Jerry Schall and the Shada family for finding Candelita for them; and for training, preparing and showing these wonderful, winning offspring.
This special mare brings much to her offspring. She exemplifies Arabian type, presence and attitude. These traits carry over to her everyday life on the farm. Cande puts on a “blow and snort” show every morning upon being turned out. She is the undisputed head mare. She alone determines the place of each and every horse in the herd. She designates where they stand, where they graze, and when they drink, and she does all this with a flick of an ear, a look, or a snake of the neck. Elite is defined as “the choicest or the best”, a fitting description for this mare. She is truly a very special, one-of-a-kind mare.
The Bensons and their beautiful mare have been and continue to be loyal supporters of the Minnesota Breeders program. Right now they are pondering which Medallion Stallion to choose for their special mare for 2010.
Heartfelt thanks to the Minnesota Breeders for this wonderful honor. ~ The Benson Family
PADRONS NIKE
The beautiful 14-year-old mare Padrons Nike is owned by Mike and Donna Hentges of Greymoor Farm, and was presented by Donna Hentges and Lindsey Cornelius, Farm Manager.
Nike is by Padrons Psyche out of the Aristocrat mare and dam of 10 champions, Niya. Nike was a show mare herself and is both a U.S. National and Canadian National Top Ten Mare.
Nike is now proving herself to be a fine broodmare. All of her shown foals are champions and all are by FIRST CYTE+. They include Katalysst who was third in the Auction Colt Class at Minnesota Fall Fest, a Champion in the Fall Fest 2-Year-Old Colt and Geldings class and a Reserve Champion in the Fall Fest Maiden Hunter class.
He also was 2005 U.S. National Top Ten Futurity Gelding, 2005 Canadian National Top Ten Futurity Gelding and a 2007 Top Ten Youth Nationals Gelding.
Nike’s most famous son, Relentlyss, by First Cyte, was the Champion in the 2-Year-Old Colt and Geldings class, and Reserve Champion in both the Hunter Junior Horse and 18-39 Hunter classes at Minnesota Fall Fest. From there he went on to win:
- U.S. Reserve National Champion Futurity Gelding
- Canadian Reserve National Champion Futurity Gelding
- U.S. National Top Ten Hunter Pleasure Maturity
- Canadian National Top Ten Hunter Pleasure Junior Horse
2009 proved to be a stellar year for this guy as he has been named the Las Vegas World Cup Supreme Champion Gelding and recently, the Canadian National Champion Gelding.
Nike will continue to be bred to First Cyte. Mike and Donna’s most fervent hope is that she will decide one day to present them with a filly—although with her track record of winning sons, they are not complaining.
The people of Greymoor Farm thank the Minnesota Breeders and are proud to have this honor presented to Padrons Nike.
2008 Honorees:
DIVINITI
Represented by Rick, Tammy and Danielle Anderson.
Diviniti is proudly owned by Rick, Tammy, and Danielle Anderson of Summerfield Farm. Diviniti is only 9 years old, and her oldest foal is only 4 years old. Diviniti is by National and International Champion, Magnum Psyche. Diviniti’s dam is Tuscany Bey, who is by Bey Shah. Diviniti’s tail female line includes * Marsianin, *Bask, Gazon, Azraff, and Raffles. Diviniti is a very well bred mare.
Diviniti was bred by River Valley Farm, and has been owned by the Andersons for all of her breeding life. The Andersons showed her a few times until she was in foal, making her a Class ‘A’ Champion and a Region 6 Top Five Mare. Then she retired to do what she does best.
Diviniti is the dam of 5 foals, and is now in foal for the 6th time – all by Georgio AF.
Her winningest foal so far is Tiamo SF. He was the 2006 Minnesota Fall Fest Unanimous Champion Yearling Colt, shown by his owner, Danielle Anderson. Later that year he was named U.S. National Top Ten Yearling Colt, placing third. In 2007, Tiamo was Buckeye Champion Gelding, and was the Unanimous Canadian National Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding. In 2008, Tiamo was Scottsdale
Champion Gelding, and Unanimous Canadian National Champion Futurity Gelding. He was shown at U.S. Nationals with Andy Sellman in Futurity Gelding for his owners, Lucky Stripes Ranch.
Divniti’s other foals include the beautiful young mare, Love Divine SF. Love Divine is a Scottsdale Top Ten Filly, Iowa Gold Star Champion, and multiple Regional Top Five champion. The Andersons have kept her to use as a broodmare, anticipating that she will do as well as her dam. Love Divine was bred to Aria Impresario in 2009.
Diviniti’s colt, DiMaggio SF was a Scottsdale Signature Top Ten Yearling. DiMaggio was shown as a Juniorr Western Pleasure horse in 2009 for his new owners, the Nedler family.
Glamorous SF was a Scottsdale Signature Top Ten Yearling Filly. Like her brother Tiamo, we expect her to do amazing things in the show ring. She is an exotic, elegant filly.
Diviniti’s 2008 colt, Aria Jaguar SF is an incredible colt. He has been purchased by Jeff Sloan of Aria International and started his show career in Scottsdale.
All of Diviniti’s foals have been sired by Georgio AF, and are making a significant contribution to Georgio’s tally of national winning foals. Diviniti’s foals are a truly great group of siblings. They are all full siblings, but seldom if ever, has a family looked this much alike and been this outstanding. Another sibling was anticipated in 2009.
Rick, Tammy and Danielle Anderson of Summerfield Farm have truly been blessed with this outstanding mare.
JER A FAME
Presented by Indira Van Handel and Larry Jerome.
The 10-year-old bay mare Jer A Fame is proud to be recognized as one of the Minnesota Arabian Horse Breeder’s Broodmare Elite.
She followed it up with a Regional Championship, National Top Ten, and Iowa Gold Star Championship. She has competed in the 2-Year-Old filly class at the Fall Fest.
Fame produced a look alike to Alana for us this spring and we look forward to her foal by *Khadraj NA next year.
TF PSYCHES ANGEL
(1994–2008) represented by her daughter Miss Independence AAL
Presented by Dave and Debbie Treadwell.
Miss Independence AAL is a 3-year-old filly out of TF Psyches Angel and sired by Medallion Stallion Odyssey SC. Miss Independence AAL was a Region 6 and Region 11 Top Five Filly, as well as a Fall Fest Top Ten 2-Year-Old Filly last year. She will make her debut in Western Pleasure this weekend. The aristocrat mare TF Psyches Angel was a true example of what the Minnesota Arabian Horse Breeders program is all about. She was bred by founding members Curtis and LaVonne Hough who used the Medallion stallion Padrons Psyche to cross on one of their foundation mares VS Khourtney. The result was a big, bold chestnut filly who later won the heart of former MN Arabian Horse Breeder Penny Smeby. Penny purchased TF Psyches Angel and bred her to Stallion Sirius Trouble.
The result of this cross qualifies TF Psyches Angel for the Minnesota Arabian Horse Breeders Broodmare Elite program because it produced the Medallion Stallion RSA Troublesome.
A few highlights from RSA Troublesome’s illustrious show career include:
• Fall Festival Reserve Champion 2-Year-Old Stallion
• Region 6 Champion Stallion in 2002 and 2004
• Region 10 Champion Stallion in 2002 and 2005
• Region 10 Hunter Pleasure Reserve Champion in 2007
• Region 12 Hunter Pleasure Reserve Champion in 2008
• Region 15 Hunter Pleasure Champion in 2008
• Canadian National Top Ten Hunter Pleasure in 2008
Psyches Angel’s other foals by Medallion Stallion Sirius Trouble have also won top honors in Scottsdale and Canada.
• Whole Lotta Trouble – Canadian National Top Ten Gelding, Fall Festival Top Ten Gelding and Fall Festival Top Five Hunter Pleasure Under Saddle horse.
• Lil Bita Trouble – Scottsdale Champion Yearling Filly
When Penny Smeby retired in 2002, she offered TF Psyches Angel to MN Arabian Horse Breeder Debbie Treadwell. Debbie purchased her over the phone and bred her 3 times to the Medallion Stallion and National Champion Odyssey SC. This cross produced the fillies:
• Miss Congeniality AAL – Region 10 Top Five Yearling Filly
• Successor AAL – a big, beautiful bay gelding—another Hunter Pleasure Champion in future.
The Treadwell family is looking forward to continuing the legacy Psyches Angel started for them by promoting her offspring in both the halter and performance divisions.

Owned by Les and Diane Van Dyke.
TF Queen Ahearts, Born on Valentine’s Day, 1995, is proudly owned by Les and Diane Van Dyke of Chandler, Minnesota. “Queenie” as she is affectionately called, is by Khouros, out of the mare Klassic, An Aristocrat Mare who is one of the breed’s leading living dams of champions. Klassic was honored as a MN Broodmare Elite in 2005.
Queen Ahearts began her illustrious show career, right here at the Minesota Fall Festival, winning champion honors in her 2-Year-Old Filly class.
She went on the following year to win the Scottsdale Grand Champion Mare award, Ohio Buckeye Grand Champion, and ended the year as a National Champion! Queenie has gone on to produce her own line of champions, including Queen Adiamonds, by Magnum Psyche, who qualified her for this award by placing Reserve Champion in the Fall Fest Yearling Filly class, winning the 2-Year-Old Fall Fest class and going on to a National Top Ten as a Futurity Filly. Queenie has also produced Ahearts Afire LD, by Baske Afire, a Regional Top Ten winnerand Queens Legacy, by Legacy Of Fame, also a Regional Top Ten winner. Her 2006 colt by First Cyte is showing this year in the Auction Colts class.
NO SMALL AFFAIR
Owned by Larry and Jody Hoffman.
In 1989, a bay filly was born on the Southern Minnesota farm of Ronald and Linda Calhoon, named No Small Affair. This filly would face a life of brief glory, much struggle, moving from pasture to pasture in obscurity and finally a lifetime home with Larry and Jody Hoffman.
No Small Affair is by the *Bask son Elect and out of a Bask daughter who was out of a predominately Crabbet mare—the golden cross. In 1990, with Hesten Park, No Small Affair was named Region 6 Breeders Sweepstakes Champion Yearling Filly, but by the end of her yearling year, she had faced almost fatal pneumonia and colic surgery. As a result of her treatments, No Small Affair was unable to fulfill a promising show career with her appearance at Region 6 being the only show she ever attended. She then disappeared into pastures in Southern Minnesota.
Larry and Jody Hoffman were reunited with No Small Affair in 1999. Remembering her quality and wonderful disposition, they felt she would make an outstanding broodmare. In 2000, she was bred to the MN Breeders stallion Desert Heat VF. She foaled a bay colt in April of 2001. In the 2002 Auction Colt class, this first foal named Voyageurs, placed third. Then, in his first return trip to the Fall Festival show, he was named champion in the 2006 Junior Western Pleasure class. With her first foal, No Small Affair achieved what few mares have done by producing an Auction class money winner and then a champion performance horse in the MN Breeders program. In fact, her first foal became the first recipient of the added money available to those foals that resulted from auction breedings and then become champions under saddle.
No Small Affair has more than fulfilled the faith that the Hoffman’s had in her. Her own show career was cut short, bu she found her other calling—broodmare. The Hoffman’s are honored to have had her included with the other outstanding broodmares named MN Breeders Elite.
